Epicyclic Gearing

In an epicyclic or planetary gear train, several spur gears distributed evenly around the circumference run between a gear with internal teeth and a gear with external teeth on a concentric orbit.

Epicyclic Gearing

With a coaxial gearbox, also referred to as an inline gearbox, the drive shaft and the output shaft are on the same rotation axis. Coaxial gearboxes are usually in the form of spur gears.
Spur gears come in different versions.

Multi-stage Gearbox

With single spur gears, a pair of gears forms a gear stage. If you connect several gear pairs one after another, this is known as a multi-stage gearbox. For each gear stage, the direction of rotation between the drive shaft and the output shaft is reversed.

Right Angle Gearbox

The type of gearbox is characterized by the fact that the drive shaft and the output shaft are arranged in different directions. Usually, right angle gearboxes are realized with an angle of 90 degrees between the drive and the output.

Bevel Gearing

Bevel gearboxes can be realized using bevel gears with straight, helical or spiral teeth. The axes of bevel gearboxes usually intersect at an angle of 90 degrees, whereby other angles are also basically possible.

Hypoid Gearing

Hypoid gearboxes can be categorized as bevel gearboxes. A special feature of hypoid gearboxes is that the axes cross on two parallel planes. Hypoid gearboxes therefore have an axis offset, unlike other bevel gearboxes.
